Fatal Erection - Castrated By Love 7" [1994]

Thursday marked seven years since the passing of Pig Champion, and in honor of his ability to shred, here's a release that seems to be lesser known within his rather large discography.

When Poison Idea disbanded in 1993, a new project popped up in 1994 under the name Fatal Erection.  The band featured most of the final Poison Idea lineup, including Pig Champion, Mondo and Thee Slayer Hippie, but vocal duties were handled by John Lyons of E-13.  The only drawback to this 7" is that there are only two songs, but they're incredibly good and focus on the shenanigans of Lorena Bobbit.  I'm unsure of if Fatal Erection ever played live, but this "Castrated By Love" is a great testament to a band that should have done more.

Of course, Erection Fatale was really just Fatal Erection Records messing with their moniker for this release.  The download link above also contains full scans of the entire 7" layout and the comic book that was included with the record.

Poison Idea - Kings Of Punk [Portland Edition]

As if there could have been doubt in anyone's mind, this aptly titled record definitely solidified Poison Idea as the "Kings Of Punk".  They had started to incorporate more melody alongside their breakneck speed, which truly gave them a sound unmatched by others.

The album was released by Pushead's label, Pusmort, and as a nice bonus, there was a Portland Edition.  Here is a breakdown of the contents:

Now here is where things get interesting.  A special Portland Edition poster was included, and over the years, I have always heard that there were 100 of these made.

 

Not included in the original package was this lyric booklet.  A note on the Portland Edition poster stated that, if desired, one could obtain the lyrics by writing to Jerry, and he would mail them this xeroxed booklet with the LP's lyrics.  I've heard an exceptionally wide range of numbers over the years that go anywhere from 35 to 75 copies of the lyric booklet got into circulation.
